Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect personal information about you in three broad categories.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Contact information – name, email address, and any other contact details you voluntarily supply.

  • Trip-planning details – destination, dates, trip window, fitness/experience level, terrain preferences, objectives, and any free-form notes you submit about your group or constraints.

  • Communications – messages you send to us (support requests, feedback, inquiries, etc.).

1.2 Payment and Transaction Information

  • When you purchase a paid Blueprint or other paid content, the transaction is processed by a third-party payment processor (e.g., Stripe).

  • From the processor we receive only the information necessary to confirm payment (transaction ID, billing name, last four digits of the card, and billing address). We do not store full credit-card numbers, CVV codes, or other sensitive payment data.

1.3 Technical and Usage Data

Automatically collected when you interact with the Services:

  • IP address and approximate geolocation.

  • Browser type, device type, operating system, and language settings.

  • Pages viewed, features used, links clicked, time spent on each page, and referral URLs.

  • Cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies that enable session management, authentication, and preference storage.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above for the following lawful purposes:

  1. Provision of Services – to create, deliver, and maintain Scout Recon briefs, Blueprint itineraries, PDFs, GPX files, and any other expedition-planning content you request.

  2. Account Management – to authenticate you, maintain your account profile, and preserve your expedition history.

  3. Communications – to send transactional messages (order confirmations, receipts, deliverables), service-related notices (updates to the Services, security alerts), and responses to support inquiries.

  4. Improvement & Security – to monitor usage for troubleshooting, detect fraud or abuse, and enhance the functionality, reliability, and security of the Services.

  5. Legal & Regulatory Compliance – to fulfill legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and protect the rights, property, or safety of Expedition Intel, our users, or third parties.

  6. Marketing (Optional) – to send you occasional information about new features, products, or promotions only if you have provided affirmative consent. You may opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in each marketing email.

All processing is based on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, compliance with legal obligations, and, where applicable, your express consent.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We employ cookies and analogous technologies for:

  • Session management and authentication (keeping you logged in).

  • Storing your language and display preferences.

  • Analyzing aggregate site usage to improve the Services.

You may manage or disable cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling certain cookies may impair functionality (e.g., login, personalized settings).
